Mixcraft 4.5, the GarageBand for windows and my tool of choice for my home studio, has been making a name for itself in the recording software market for some time now, bashing the bigger boys on the DAW scene with it’s ease of use and professional functionality at a fraction of the cost.

According to the Mixcraft forum, the new version, Mixcraft 5 could soon be making it’s debut at  the NAMM show in January 2010.

From the demo screen grab above, you can clearly see that a mixer has been added to Mixcraft 5 and it also appears that you can edit and sync video with audio in this latest version.

Previously, mixing was done by adjusting the level or panning on each track on the left side, so this new mixer should be more intuitive as it mimics the style of hardware mixers. Also visible  in the preview is a CPU mixer and an additional new video menu. It also looks like the sound editor now has a separate row for editing fades, swells etc. which should be easier as it was slightly more fiddly to do in Mixcraft 4.5.

I for one will be looking forward to it, it is already a great product, if they add midi control to its already impressive list of functions, I will be made up! See here for the original forum post and comments form other users and Mixcraft staffers:
